Greg Brockhouse has two domestic violence accusations from two wives.

“That cow has been milked,” said Brockhouse supporter Mike Helle, former president of the San Antonio Police Officers Association.

When I read this in a recent article via the Express News, I realized the significance of the upcoming local elections in our city.

During the last mayoral elections in 2019, Greg Brockhouse almost beat Ron Nirenberg during a run-off election. Nirenberg won by fewer than 2,700 votes.

While recent polls show that Nirenberg is in the lead this year, we mustn’t let our guard down. I was first introduced to Brockhouse during a 2019 debate where I knew who I was going to be voting for within one minute of the debate.

Brockhouse has been accused of domestic violence by two of his wives.

“Two of his wives, in complaints to police years apart, accused him of domestic violence. During the 2019 race, Brockhouse spent weeks obfuscating and evading questions about one of those incidents.

His current wife — Annalisa, now married 14 years — told officers in 2009 that he threw her to the floor after an argument and that he ‘had been drinking a lot’ after losing his job.

The police report was later expunged. But after a copy was leaked to the San Antonio Express-News in 2019, the candidate for mayor said he had no memory of the incident, then insisted for the rest of the campaign that it never happened and suggested the document was fabricated.

After his defeat, Brockhouse admitted that his wife had called police that night. He appeared next to Annalisa as she told a TV interviewer she had accused him falsely because of postpartum depression.

Brockhouse and his second wife, Christine Rivera, had separated when she called 911 in 2006 and told police he had shoved her while retrieving belongings from the house he had moved out of. Brockhouse and Rivera’s new boyfriend fought, and Brockhouse also called 911, to allege assault.

He denied shoving Rivera.

Brockhouse wasn’t charged in either incident.

Some suggest the domestic violence narrative has run its course as political currency and that the candidate should be judged by his more recent history.”

Brockhouse, the cow has not been milked. Domestic abuse will not be overlooked here.

Well, let’s take it from Brockhouse’s point of view for a minute – for fairness’ sake! Let’s take a look at his most recent history.

Last month, an Asian-American-owned restaurant, Noodle Tree, was found vandalized with disgusting phrases including “Kung Flu”, “Commie”, and”Hope U Die” amongst others. Shortly after the vandalism, Brockhouse was shown happily showcasing $1,000 worth of orders to support the restaurant. What a kind man! Nope.

Shortly after the photo was posted on Noodle Tree’s Instagram, Brockhouse told Kens5,

“I believe that saying Chinese virus is not racist”.

Really? A restaurant was vandalized and eventually had to temporarily close its doors due to this phrase and you don’t believe it is racist? If being accused of abusing his loved ones is not enough, Brockhouse also proved he’ll do what he needs to do for the clout, regardless of his true beliefs.

“‘I believe that saying Chinese virus is not racist,’” Brockhouse said. ‘The actions that we saw at Noodle Tree… completely racist.’

He said drawing false equivalencies devalues and disrespects those who have endured what he believes are actual instances of oppression and racism, such as what happened at Noodle Tree.”

Early elections for San Antonio begin Monday, April 19th through Tuesday, April 27th. Election Day is Saturday, May 1st.

My next posts will look more into who supports Brockhouse, Prop B – the Repeal Police Collective Bargaining Initiative, and the city council candidates.

If you’re still here, thank you for caring about our city. Sending you love, always.
