When Harvey hit Texas countless people lost their homes, their belongings and in some cases, their furry friends as well. With over 300 animals displaced since the devastation of Harvey, San Antonio Pets Alive, a local life-saving organization that rescues dogs and cats at risk of being euthanized, has reached out to the community for help. Since 2012 SAPA has saved over 38,000 lives and we’re here to help them save many more.

One of the easiest ways to help #Homes4Harvey is by volunteering or donating. Volunteers help support SAPA programs so they can operate and focus on groups of animals that would otherwise not be saved. The next volunteer orientation is Sunday, November 26th from 4 to 5:45 p.m. For more information on volunteering and to sign up for the next orientation, please click here.

There are so many ways to donate! You can donate directly through SAPA’s website, join SAPA’s Guardian Monthly Giving program, become a corporate partner, donate to the Amazon wish list or host a fundraiser!

Do you have extra room in your home and extra love to spread? Then fostering might be the right fit for you! A foster home is a temporary living situation for pets in our program while they are awaiting placement in a permanent home. Foster families provide shelter, food, care and love. Fostering requires 100% dedication to the pets you are taking care of but don’t worry, SAPA doesn’t leave you hanging. When providing animals with a foster home, SAPA will provide basic vet care, behavior and training resources, as well as adoption counseling and support as needed; all free of charge. Food, treats, toys, and litter are often available to foster parents upon request and are dependent on availability.

Regardless of how you choose to help, know that you are saving the lives of so many innocent dogs and cats; puppies and kittens. Please help to spread the word on social and tag #Homes4Harvey to inspire others to give back to our furry friends who make our hearts so full everyday.
