Two Step ExteriorTexas cuisine. That’s what Chef Steve at Two Step Restaurant and Cantina told me the restaurant specializes in. Located at the corner of Braun Rd and W. 1604 barbecue has been re-envisioned with dishes like the fried baby back ribs that come with a garlic chili honey mustard sauce. Not interested in BBQ? You can try the roasted poblano chicken sandwich or spinach salad which includes everything from candied walnuts to poached pears. With tasty food, a nice patio, and great drinks, we definitely recommend trying Two Step!
Two Step Chicken Stuffed AvocadoTo start we tried the smoked chicken stuffed avocado, which is smoked to perfection and hand shredded. Add chive oil, pecans, and spicy sriracha and you have a great appetizer or addition to your meal. With 11 other appetizers, ranging from brisket flautas to gulf shrimp “firecrackers”, it’s hard not to get carried away but make sure you save room for your entree! Two Step Tacos Next the Two Step tacos, which come as 2 for lunch or 3 for dinner. These were delicious and a great choice because you can mix it up and try a few different meats including brisket, smoked chicken, blackened catfish, or pulled pork. They are served with a jalapeño slaw and cilantro on corn tortillas. Now for those of you who are thinking you can’t handle spicy sriracha or jalapeños, like I was, I promise the dishes are suitable for all tastebuds! Two Step Beef Rib Finally the double cut beef rib, which is definitely not weight watchers approved, is something every meat lover needs to try! The ribs are carefully cut to guarantee that you get the most beef possible. This is always served super juicy and flavorful. Two Step Margarita If you’re wanting a drink to accompany these dishes (who wouldn’t?), then the margarita is highly recommended. Every morning one of the owners, Adrienne, goes out and buys a variety of limes looking for the sweetest and freshest to be hand squeezed that day. Need more convincing? Well, Two Step has been winning awards on the margarita since 2012, including being named the grand champion at the 2015 Jose Cuervo Margarita Pour Off.
