This Saturday I joined hundreds of people at Main Plaza for a peaceful protest against anti-Asian hate crimes and racism organized by Gina Ortiz Jones and Mayor Ron Nirenberg.

“If you are tired of hearing about racism, imagine how tired some people are of experiencing it.”

This photo truly cuts to the core. If you are white or white-passing as I am, we need to acknowledge how privileged we are and we need to use our voices.

I regularly see comments that infuriate me about how people are tired of hearing about racism. Racism has always been in America and people experience it every single day. Every day. And it will not go away unless we talk about it with our family, friends, and community.

As many of you, I have had a difficult time processing the hatred we are seeing so plainly in the world, but coming together in peace to demand an end to this senseless violence-filled me with hope. A hope I know many people see fall away each day when we see more news stories about bloodshed.

We are all human beings. Spread love, always.
