The Last Word, located in the heart of downtown at 229 E. Houston St., embodies a bar where books come to life through cocktail programs and events come to life through books. This month the underground bar launches its first-ever Libation and Literary Party in collaboration with The San Antonio Library Foundation. Party with themes centering around “A Clockwork Orange”, “Frankenstein” and “Where the Wild Things Are”. Oh yeah, this sounds amazing!
On April 21st, the Last Word begins its series of drinks, books and reverie with a launch party on Shakespeare’s Birthday. Come dressed as your favorite Shakespeare character and enjoy a unique menu tailored to impress the poet himself and sip on the Fino Countdown composed of Aviation Gin, Giffard Vanilla, Fino Sherry, Lillet Blanc and cucumber.
Are you a Batman fan? The next Libation and Literary Party takes places on May 14th for Batman’s Birthday Bash. In case you’re wondering why this date, the first edition of Batman was conceived in May.
Start picking out your outfit for the “Where The Wild Things Are” Party on June 10th followed by a celebration in honor of Stanley Kubrick’s Birthday on July 29th. The last party scheduled is on August 27th, Mary Shelley’s Birthday. Get into the Halloween spirit early with Frankenstein!
The Libations and Library parties will take place from 9 p.m. to close. Admission is free and drink proceeds will be donated to The Library Foundation.
