As central downtown continues to expand (yes!), it was only a matter of time before a legit grocery store would open it’s doors. Say hello to Royal Blue Grocery! Royal Blue provides a vast array of grocery offerings, from Stumptown coffee and freshly prepared grab-and-go offerings, to conventional grocery and convenience items, as well as locally-sourced products. Royal Blue Grocery will soon open its first San Antonio location on Houston Street in the ground level of the historic Savoy Building.

Weston Urban, a local company propelling authentic + unique space in urban San Antonio, recently announced the arrival of the compact urban market to downtown San Antonio.

“Every vibrant town and every urban developer across the country would love to have a Royal Blue Grocery,” said Weston Urban CEO Randy Smith. “A brand like Royal Blue can afford to be extraordinarily selective about where and how they grow. To have looked at all of the opportunities presented to them and to choose Houston Street and the Savoy speaks volumes about what we’ve been able to accomplish as a community. This provides significant affirmation for all of the work and progress happening in downtown San Antonio.”

Smith also points to the market rate housing on Houston Street and jobs being created and relocated downtown as two of the important factors that helped to motivate the decision to court Royal Blue.
