When brunch calls, you must answer! Maverick’s brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and I must say, your weekend is not complete without Maverick’s decadent basket of house-made pastries and a house fruit mimosa.

Two words I would use to describe Maverick Texas Brasserie are casual and sophisticated. You can have a snazzy date night dining inside in the dim lighting while sitting on their iconic teal + velvet chairs, or, invite the crew to brunch on their beautiful patio with plants all around — perfect for your obligatory brunch post.

Brunch is the perfect end to a long week, or a great start to a new one; so why not indulge? Our waiter recommended we try the Brown Butter Brioche Doughnut, and it did not disappoint! After we stuffed ourselves with fresh, hot pastries; we moved on to the entrées. We ordered the Challa French Toast, Crab Cake Benedict and the Ceviche. Karissa and I also ordered delicious brunch cocktails. She had a Pineapple Mimosa and I had a specialty fizzy cocktail with Gin and Rosewater.

My personal favorite was the Challa French Toast because of the combination of the richness from the house-made jam and creaminess of the honey crème fraiche. That combo really is what made this dish for me. Every entrée we ordered was delightful and perfect for a Sunday morning with your cup of coffee and second mimosa.

Maverick has a wonderful brunch spread, with a great outdoor seating area to enjoy it in, but this chic restaurant is also a great date night destination because the interior is absolutely gorgeous and very intimate.

Maverick offers their happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and they also have a reverse happy hour for post-meal drinks from 9 p.m. to close. Actual dinner service runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and on Friday through Saturday the kitchen and bar are open until 11 p.m. There is a lunch service, as well, and it is served on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Maverick is located at 710 S St. Mary’s St. and I know the parking situation in Southtown could be a nightmare, especially on the weekends! Luckily, Maverick offers free parking for lunch and brunch in a private lot adjacent to the front door on St. Mary’s and Cesar Chavez. Valet parking is also available 5 to 11 p.m. daily for $8.

So, will it be brunch or date night at Maverick this week?
