photo-11-1050x700Jacob’s Well, located northwest of Wimberley near Cypress Creek, is an amazing underwater cave in the middle of a wooded area. We were attracted to Jacob’s Well from photos we came across on Pinterest, and when we became aware of its close vicinity, we drove there immediately to bask the the beauty of nature and jump down into the cave.

JacobsWellphoto-1These pictures do not justify the natural beauty of Jacob’s Well and the wading areas that surround it. You can dive down into the underground cave and swim about, or just sit above it and enjoy the view and the wonderful breeze. They’ve even created seating around the well which is ideal for those who don’t have the correct footwear for hiking to the top.

Due to intense popularity, Jacob’s Well now requires you to make online reservations. At first, Jacqueline and I were slightly irritated that you need to make reservations to visit a natural area, but because of the crowding, this is ideal for safety reasons and photography sessions. Swim season begins May 1, 2015 and there is a new entrance is at 1699 Mt. Sharp Road, Wimberley, TX 78676. Please visit www.co.hays.tx.us/jacob’s-well-natural-area.aspx for more information.

Along with Jacob’s Well, the area itself has many different place to explore, a perfect day trip location.
